Apple ginger energy balls in a bowl

Energy pre or post workout is essential for powering through your training, as well as replenishing glycogen stores so you can fuel your recovery.

These little energy balls are easy to digest, making them perfect pre-workout fuel bombs, and have tons of nutrients for post workout recovery plus ginger to fight inflammation and improve digestion! They're basically your best food-based workout buddy. Ever.


  • 1 small apple
  • ¾ cup fresh organic pitted dates
  • ½ cup whole almonds
  • ¼ cup fresh ground flax
  • ¼ cup protein powder (I like vanilla chai protein powder)
  • 2 tbsp virgin coconut oil
  • 2 tbsp fresh grated ginger root (1 tsp powdered)
  • Sea salt to taste
  • Unsweetened coconut for dusting

Process: In a food processor, process all ingredients together unsweetened coconut. Shape either into balls or bars and dust with coconut. Store in the fridge or freezer - makes around 20 balls (2-4 equals a serving, depending on personal needs). Enjoy!
